After marrying American screenwriter Dustin Lance Black in 2016, Olympic diver Tom Daley delighted his fan base earlier this year when he announced the couple were expecting their first child together via a surrogate.

Tom and Dustin chose to reveal their happy news on Valentine's Day last month, sharing a picture of themselves to Instagram holding up a baby scan. Alongside the cute snap, Tom wrote, 'HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! ❤️👨‍👨‍👦❤️'. sic

Despite many fans congratulating the couple, up until now, they've decided to give no further details away.

That was until 23-year-old Tom appeared on Ferne Cotton's podcast and revealed the couple are expecting a little boy later in the year.

He said, "We’re going to have a little boy!”

Tom, who came out as gay in 2013, also revealed the couple have received some negative backlash since announcing their happy news.

Speaking to Ferne, Tom admitted they've been treated "quite differently" due to the fact they are a gay couple wanting to bring up a child.

He said, "With Kim Kardashian, people felt sorry she’s not able to have to have a child because of health reasons – ’How lovely it is that a surrogate has been willing to do that!’

“But for every other gay couple that is not able to have a child, but desperately would love to bring up a child like any heterosexual couple, we have been treated quite differently," he then added.

23-year-old Tom and 43-year-old Dustin announced their engagement in a very traditional way back in 2015. Going against the usual social media post, the pair decided to post a note in the paper to announce the news.

The pair then tied the knot in a stunning ceremony last year at a 20th century mansion in Bovey Castle on the edge of Dartmoor, in Devon.

Three months after the event took place, the couple shared an adorable video of their big day with fans.

Making the announcement on Instagram with a photo of the wedding party, the message read, 'Our honeymoon feels like the perfect time to finally share our magical day. We know our wedding was only possible thanks to the brave work of countless people for generations before us, so in that tradition, we will donate any revenue from this video to the “LGBT+ Switchboard” and “It Gets Better” in hopes of making things even better for future generations. You can watch the video through the link in my bio :)'. sic
