'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Character Names Revealed
Director JJ Abrams unveils them via trading cards!
Director JJ Abrams has revealed the names of characters played by John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Daisy Ridley in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Ever since the trailer premiered last month, excitement has been building for the seventh instalment of the Star Wars saga, however, until now the characters have mysteriously remained anonymous.
In an ingenious move that nods towards the decade when the first movie was released, Abrams unveiled the names through seventies style trading cards.
They reveal that English actor John Boyega, who appears in the trailer in a storm trooper outfit, plays a character called Finn.
Daisy Ridley’s character is called Rey, Oscar Isaac’s is known as Poe Dameron and there’s also a Sith Warrior called Kylo Ren.
More importantly, we also know what the football like robot is called – BB:8.
Set 30 years after Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, the seventh instalment hits cinema screens across the globe on 18th December 2015.
Alongside the new actors, original stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher will all reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia respectively.
The Star Wars Episode VII trailer racked up 58.2million YouTube views in its first week – the best first week tally for any movie in 2014. Jurassic World notched up 53.9million views while Avengers: Age of Ultron was seen 50.6million times.
