Demi Lovato replaces Katy Perry to voice new Smurf movie

Demi Lovato has taken over from Katy Perry to voice the character of Smurfette in new movie ‘Get Smurfy’

As part of Global Smurf Day, Sony Pictures has revealed the all-star cast of the animated reboot, which also includes Rainn Wlison and Mandy Patinkin.

The new movie follows Smurfette and her brothers as they search for a legendary Smurf village, and promises to answer long-term questions such as “why are there 99 boys and only one girl?”

Demi Lovato will voice Smurfette, Mandy Patinkin will star as Papa Smurf and Rainn Wilson will play the role of Gargamel, the Smurf’s arch nemesis.

Lovato replaces Katy Perry who starred as Smurfette in the first two movies released in 2011 and 2013.

Director Kelly Asbury said: “The continued popularity of the Smurf’s is unmistakable, and this new outing will return them to the fully animated world which launched them.”

'Get Smurfy' will hit cinemas worldwide on 31st March 2017.
