Coronation Street's Bhavna Limbachia reveals she's struggling with an incurable condition

It leaves her feeling exhausted every day

Coronation Street actress Bhavna Limbachia has revealed she is suffering from an under active thyroid, an incurable condition which is also known as Hypothyroidism.

Bhavna, who plays the role of Rana Nazir in the ITV soap, has admitted she struggled with the condition which leaves her exhausted every day.

Speaking to Mirror Online, the 33-year-old said, "Around five years ago I noticed I was waking up feeling exhausted every day, as if I'd just run a marathon, despite having had eight or nine hours of sleep a night.

“Initially I thought it was an age thing. But when I explained my symptoms to my doctor, I was sent for blood tests. They said there was no cure and I would need medication for ever. That did scare me."

According to the NHS, an under active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) is where your thyroid gland doesn't produce enough hormones, leading to symptoms such as tiredness, weight gain and depression.

Meanwhile Bhavna appeared on This Morning with her Coronation Street co-star Faye Brookes earlier today.

Bhavna's character Rana Nazir is currently having an affair with Faye's character Kate Connor, whilst Kate is also involved with Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent).

Speaking about the storyline, Bhvana revealed she wasn't sure how her own mother was going to react when her character turned gay, due to the fact she's from an Indian background.

Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Bhvana said, "I sat her down and told her I was kissing a girl on screen. She didn’t quite understand, so I told her in Gujarati and she said if you’re going to help people, then you’ve got my full support."

Despite talking about the show, Faye and Bhavna were giving away no spoilers about who Kate will choose on the show!

Bhavna first shot to fame when she appeared in comedy series Citizen Khan in 2012. She later joined Coronation Street in February 2016.
