Coleen Rooney is "looking forward" to eating her placenta
This is a growing trend amongst celebrities.
The 29-year-old wife of Wayne Rooney has become the latest celebrity to 'eat' her own placenta after giving birth to the couple's third child, Kit.
The day after giving birth Coleen posted a photo on Twitter of a jar of pills which have been made from the placenta by Liverpool-based company Placenta Plus saying, 'Looking forward to starting my capsules @placentaplus1 .... Thank you xx'.
Placenta Plus also tweeted that 'it was an honour to encapsulate' Coleen's placenta.
According to information on the company's Twitter account there are a number of benefits to taking these pills including preventing the 'baby blues' and reducing stress levels.
Danielle Kinny, from Placenta Plus told ITV that the whole process takes around 24 hours, "I take the placenta to my unit, clean it, and check it is okay to be turned into pills.
"Then it is cut into small slices and dehydrated for 15 hours before it can be ground down into pill form."
Kit is Coleen and Wayne's third child and was born on 24 January 2016. The family are now resting at home.
