Two police officers pulled her from the water on Saturday
The coastguard wants to remind people in Lincolnshire that the sea in unpredictable and dangerous, even if you are a strong swimmer.
This message comes after a woman who was struggling in the water was rescued by police in Skegness in the early hours of Saturday morning (20 August).
Skegness Officers were called to the Tower Esplanade just before 2am.
PC’s Laura Kaciulyte and Kirsty Wright arrived seven minutes after the call was received and located the woman.
They then ran into the sea until they reached her and brought her back to the shore.
They stayed with her until the ambulance arrived.
Detective Superintendent Liz Rogers, said: “This incident is an example of how our officers are willing to put their own lives at risk to save the lives of others. I’m extremely proud of their efforts and if it wasn’t for their quick response and actions, there could have been a different outcome.”
Callum Jarvis, duty commander with HM Coastguard said: “We’re very thankful that we work with and alongside people who like us, are ready to help and rescue those who get into difficulty.
“This is a reminder of just how merciless the sea can be even if you’re an experienced swimmer. Be wary of currents and tides even in seas you think you know well.
And as always, if you see anyone in difficulty in the sea or at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
