A vigil planned in Sarah Everand's memory this evening has been cancelled following discussions with police.

It was due to be held at Clapham Common, near where the 33-year-old was last seen.

But organsisers haven't been able to arrange for it to go ahead in a Covid-safe way.

Instead, they intend to raise £320,000 for women's causes.

Officers say they took "no joy" in calling it off due to lockdown restrictions, but that it was the "right thing to do".

Women from across Lincolnshire and Newark have now been sharing their experiences of walking home alone at night.

WATCH: Sara Fowler is from Grantham, her mum, Sharon, was killed in 1994 when she was just a baby.

"It’s affected me big time.

"It’s debilitated me big time.

"I suffer from extreme social phobia disorder. I suffer from depression.

"When I turned 21 that’s when it got worse. I thought, wow, somebody’s going to be after me.

"I can’t leave the house on my own I always have to be either with my nan or my husband.

"I can’t even answer the phone on my own.

"I can’t talk to friends anymore. I’ve lost so many friends, or I feel as if I have. I’m terrified to talk to them now.

"It’s just depressing, debilitating, It’s mentally exhausting.

"You’ve stripped me of having a real mum"

"You’ve stripped my whole family of seeing Sharon, my mum, grow old and happy.

"You’ve stripped her from possibly having anymore children, getting married, everything.

"You’ve stripped me from having a life that I’m going to enjoy to the max because now you’ve made me terrified of leaving my home.

"You’ve made me terrified of walking the streets alone.

"You’ve terrified me of even just people in general.

"You have terrified me.

"That is going to scar me for life."
