Duncan French has been giving his thoughts following the Taliban's return to power in the country.

The last few days has seen the Taliban take over in Afghanistan.

They were ousted from power almost twenty years ago by forces from the UK, America and their allies.

However earlier this year the Americans decided to withdraw their remaining forces.

That led to action from the Taliban who took over the country far quicker than most commentators had thought.

We've been speaking to a Professor of International Law at the University of Lincoln about the situation there.

Duncan French is also a Vice Chancellor.

He told us there's little we can do about the Taliban being in control so we might need to concentrate on other issues like the treatment of women and girls plus addressing the refugee crisis.

He says there will be a need for humanitarian aid in the region.

He fears there could be hundreds of thousands of refugees pouring out of Afghanistan following the crisis.

They will need support.

He also believes there'll be some individuals who may need help getting out like students with visas who are struggling to leave.

Also interpreters who may have helped coalition forces in the past,
