Since the death of the Queen we've been hearing from people across Lincolnshire and Newark about their memories of when they met her, and what it meant to them.

Simon Parkes is Chief Operating Officer at the University of Lincoln.

The Queen opened the campus of the University in 1996, he met Her Majesty whilst in the army in 2002. He said:

"I will remember that day forever, infact I've got mementos from the day that I've kept in my box because it was such a significant day.

"I always do want to remember it and talk to my children about it and maybe one day my grandchildren about it.

"It was a lovely day and she was an amazing person in terms of putting people at their ease and making them feel special.

He says the opening of the University of Lincoln Campus by the Queen was very significant:

"That opening back in 1996 was a remarkable day in the life of the University. We are incredibly proud that the Queen opened our campus here.

"That has led to so much more development here in Lincoln over the course of the last two and a bit decades."

Simon met the Queen back in 2002 and says he has a huge respect for her:

"She's a very significant international stateswoman during her long reign. And yet when you met her she wore that incredibly lightly.

"I saw her speaking to young soldiers with incredible kindness. She would've known they were very nervous.

"Yet she did wear that crown very lightly on her head and I think that was quite remarkable."
