Three people arrested after reports of a stabbing in Scunthorpe

Three people have been arrested after reports of a stabbing in Scunthorpe.

Police were called out to the Priory pub on Ashby Road last night (25th July) around 10.15pm after reports of an altercation between a group of people.

They discovered a man had suffered a stab wound to his stomach. He's being treated in hospital although his injuries aren't thought to be life threatening.

A 37-year-old man and 39-year-old woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray.

A second man was located in a nearby car park and has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.

Detective Inspector Simon Archer said:

“I understand given the nature of this incident it will be concerning to the local community.

“A scene guard is currently in place whilst officers conduct lines of enquiry to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“There will continue to be a high presence of officers in the area throughout the day providing additional reassurance to residents whilst enquiries continue. I would encourage anyone with any information, or anyone with concerns, to please come and speak to us.

“Our investigation is ongoing and I would ask anyone with any information, particular mobile phone or CCTV footage that may assist with our enquiries, to please call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 582 of 25 July.”
