The bomb disposal squad have destroyed 2 chemical substances of concern which were discovered at house in Sturton By Stow.
Officers yesterday searched the property at Queensway looking for stolen goods and discovered the substances. Two of them were then safely destroyed in a nearby field.
Police say they're keeping an open mind about what those substances are until the result of examinations.
Two men aged 40 and 50 have been arrested and remain in custody.
Chief Inspector Phil Baker said: “The items found have been assessed and safely dealt with preventing any risk to the public.
“Our officers carried out a search of the property yesterday afternoon and found chemical substances. At this stage it is unclear what these substances are, and we are keeping an open mind. Samples have been sent off for examination.
“Our officers will remain in the area today and will be happy to speak with any residents who may have any concerns.
“Our investigations are ongoing.”
