Today is the main event at Cadwell Park's annual 'Party in the Park', The Bennetts British Superbike Championships, and many riders are looking forward to conquering the legendary 'mountain' section of the race.

Cadwell Park's Party in the Park welcomes its main event today, the Bennetts British Superbike Championships. After a weekend of warm - ups and qualifying, the circuit welcomes the riders for the final race. This years' line up includes Leon Haslam, Tom Sykes and reigning champion Tarran Mackenzie.

This is Cadwell's flagship event on the traditional August Bank Holiday, and this year also included the return of the one-lap Superpole.

For Honda, this event is particularly special. Tom Neave is from Lincoln and a rider of theirs, he says that Cadwell is significant to him and the team:

"They call it Party in the Park for a reason; there's always the biggest crowds, there's such a good atmosphere. It's even better because it's my local round, we're only 25–30 minutes up the road from Cadwell, and it's also the teams' local track - there based in Louth, Honda are, so, it's quite fitting really."

Tom continued to detail that that as a child he grew up at the circuit, spending more time at Cadwell than anywhere else. He says that it has 'a special place in my heart':

"You have more of a buzz with the local fans, and certainly with it being the British Superbike round, it's the biggest one of the year, and you always feel the home support. Everyone, half the crowd their will be Lincolnshire folks and it's always super special."

Despite no disruptions in 2021, with Josh Brookes becoming champion, this track was excluded form the Championship calendar in 2020, following an enforced absence.

The Series Director, Stuart Higgs says

"The British Superbike Championship in its current format has been running since 1996, so traditionally we've occupied the August bank holiday, but for a couple of years have moved off of it. So certainly uninterrupted since 1996, except for 2020 where we obviously due to COVID we couldn't run. So that was very sad, but prior to that top class motorcycle racing has been held at Cadwell Park since there was probably chariot racing."

Stuart also detailed the importance of Cadwell Park in the Championships:

"It's Britain's biggest motorsport series and in terms of event, it's probably one of the top five attended motorsport events in the UK nationally during the year. So at the top, probably Formula One at Silverstone, but yeah, in that top five itself, you'll pilgrimage to Lincolnshire.

"So I mean the Cadewell Park circuit is very traditional, it has a lot of history, there's a lot of people from the area. Lincolnshire is for whatever reason, the real heartland of motorcycle racing in the UK with a lot of major teams based here. It's produced countless riders over the years and with that, a knowledgeable fan base."
