Strong early take up of Covid booster jab across Lincolnshire
The latest booster has just been rolled out
Take up of the latest Covid booster vaccination is said to be going well in Lincolnshire after the recent autumn roll out started.
It comes as case numbers have begun to rise for the first time since July.
Some experts are predicting another coronavirus wave as the weather gets colder and we spend more time indoors.
Who's eligible?
Only certain groups are eligible for the latest jab.
We spoke to those involved with the roll out in Lincoln.
The Weighing rooms at the Grand Stand Community Centre have been welcoming over 45 people an hour to get their vaccine.
The Head of Clinical Service, Julie Humphreys tells us who can get this latest vaccination.
“So people aged 65 and over can book on the site now or ring 119,."
"It’s people who are 50 years old and over, or those that are 5-49 with clinical vulnerabilities, or ladies that are pregnant.”
A seasonal immuniser, James Ulson, explains how getting the vaccine could help.
“I think you’ve just got to understand that, you know, it’s a short discomfort for hopefully a longer term of, safety and efficacy for the local people within Lincolnshire.
I don’t think anyone likes injections but in terms of, for greater good and for us as a community in Lincolnshire, I think it’s safer and the uptake's actually really good at the moment.”
“Obviously, this time last year we were in the Showground.
We were gearing up for Boris’s target of getting everyone vaccinated for Christmas.
This year it’s very different, we’re in a smaller room so we’re trying to make do with what we’ve got but we’re gritting in and working very hard, and we’re still hitting the numbers which is very good.”
