Strong demand for "warm banks" across Lincolnshire and Newark during cold weather
Many people are thought to be struggling with the cost of heating
Warm banks across Lincolnshire and Newark have been telling they're seeing significant numbers of people during the cold as many people struggle to adequately heat their homes.
A charity in Boston tells us they've seen an increase in how busy they've been since they opened their doors.
Located on the High Street, Boston Salvation Army has become one of the latest charities to offer food, company and activities to those most vulnerable.
That's in addition to helping the homeless.
Major Michelle Woodhouse is the Minister there.
We spoke to her about what they've been seeing.
"We are a lot busier than usual, we've been giving out sleeping bags and emergency food which would get them through the next 24 hours."
"Certainly looking around Boston we could see there was a need there we could meet."
"We've been going now (in the warm bank) for three weeks and certainly the people who are coming in are making their own family groupings."
"I'm just glad that we're in the position of being able to respond to the immediate need through having a warm space, providing hot drinks and food."
"It's for anyone in the community who are perhaps struggling to make ends meet".
"Perhaps families worried about choosing between heating and eating."
"For some who could be just sitting at home alone, to come along and have some company."
