St Barnabas Torchlight Procession in Lincoln this evening
It's thought around 1,000 people will turnout
St Barnabas Hospice are hosting a torchlight procession in Lincoln this evening (22nd November), which will see members of the community walk and dedicate a light, in memory of lost loved ones.
They're expecting a turn-out of over 1,000 people.
It'll start at 7.30pm at Clayton's Sports ground and end at Lincoln Cathedral.
The Procession will walk via the newly reopened St Barnabas Hospice Inpatient Unit on Nettleham Road.
Hundreds of families are expected to take part in the event, walking in memory of loved ones.
Once the crowd has reached the Cathedral, members of the community will dedicate a light on the Tree of Life and take a moment to reflect on the lives of those who have been lost.
Fundraising Officer Louise Cotton tells us what it means to people:
"It has different meanings to different people. Sometimes you do just get taken away with the busyness of life and working and I think it's just coming together with the community and that's a really special thing."
She tells us about her favourite part:
"The RAF Waddington Pipe Band lead a procession on to Nettleham Road, and we actually pause for a moment of reflection.
"Then the RAF Waddington Pipe Band will play Amazing Grace outside our Hospice. So it's really moving moment."
