South Lincolnshire man jailed for 12 years for rape
The 41-year-old has also been placed on the sex offenders register for life
A man from South Lincolnshire has been jailed for 12 years after being convicted of multiple rapes.
George Brian Chipperfield was given the term when he appeared at Grimsby Crown Court on Friday, 9th May. He also has been placed on the sex offenders register for life.
The 41-year-old was given a 15-year sentence; a 12-year custodial sentence and a three-year extended licence – for crimes dating back to 2014 and subsequent years.
The judge said he would have imposed the full term in custody but reduced the jail time because he is already serving a prison sentence of four years for blackmail.
It was further reduced to take into account his mental health difficulties.
DC Kirsty Farrar said everyone played their part in bringing Chipperfield to justice, and she hopes the sentencing will give his victim some of closure.
“Chipperfield is a dangerous individual and his actions caused great harm and distress –they were reprehensible,” she said.
“I hope that this result can help give his victim a sense of closure though the road is likely to be long. Their courage is why we’re here today; they deserve a tremendous amount of respect.
“I’d also like to pay tribute to those who worked on the case, which demonstrates great partnership working.
“I’d like to highlight Independent Domestic Violence Advisor Sacha Darcey, Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Lawyer Sheetal Patel and KC Andrew Vout for their support.”
