Scunthorpe United have sacked manager Neil Cox.
It follows a poor run of results which has seen the Iron bottom of the table with just 2 wins in league 2 since the start of the season.
Cox was appointed in August of last year.
His final game at the helm saw him lose 2-1 at Colchester on Saturday.
Assistant manager Mark Lillis has also left the club.
Chairman Peter Swann last month issued a statement backing Cox following their 6-1 defeat at Harrogate.
Then he urged supporters to back Cox saying he "needs your support now."
But it seems despite the win over Crawley last weekend Mr Swann has decided it's time to move on and look for another boss to take over.
It's thought the Iron will take their time choosing a new manager.
The fact that they've already said coaches Tony McMahon and Paul Musselwhite will take charge of this weekends FA cup game against Doncaster Rovers suggests the board are in no hurry to pick a successor.
With Iron struggling this season and coming close to relegation last campaign they will want to ensure they get the right candidate to maintain their league status.
