Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service have issued a prohibition notice and are asking residents to leave a luxury development, due to "serious fire safety concerns".

It relates to the entire building at One the Brayford on Brayford Wharf North.

In a statement the service said "There's nothing to suggest a fire is more likely.

"But if one were to break out, it would spread quickly throughout the building, and we are not confident that everyone would have enough warning and time to escape.

"There is no wider risk to members of the public, and the businesses based on the ground floor are not affected."

Lincoln City Council are currently supporting those residents who are unable to stay with friends and family.

Dan Moss, Area Manager at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said:

“We appreciate that this is a worrying time for those living and staying in these flats, but our primary concern is always the safety of the public.

"Once we understood the extent of the fire risks at One The Brayford, we were left with no option but to advise individuals of the risks, and recommend they leave while we work with the building owners to make sure it is fully safe.

“We are working hard to do that as quickly as possible and will make sure we keep residents and guests updated on progress.”

A spokesperson for RMG said:

“RMG sympathises with the very difficult position the residents faced on Friday evening with the Fire Service issuing a prohibition notice to close the building on both the building owner and the developer.

“RMG’s on-site and Customer service teams will continue to support the residents and keep them updated.

"The focus now is to establish what work must be completed to enable residents to return to their homes. We had a constructive conversation yesterday with the Fire Service who outlined what they would require for the building to be re-opened.

"These requirements will be discussed with the building owner and developer tomorrow and if they agree, RMG will support the implementation.

“The safety of the residents is our number one priority, and we will continue to support them through this difficult period.”
