Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer has reportedly said he'll stick to his pledge of not housing asylum seekers at the former RAF Scampton site.

Labour abandoned plans to use the site as migrant housing last year but the Home Office recently said airfields could possibly be used.

Sir Keir Starmer has now ruled it out for Scampton.

Jackie Brockway, the Leader of West Lindsey District Council says "It is absolutely fantastic news

"What he's done now is clarified a situation which has been holding us up for a number of years.

"It looks to us as though he's said enough is enough.

Jackie says she hopes the Government will agree to their regeneration plans for the site : "This means that we've now got an opportunity to put in place a terrific economic investment

"I was up at Scampton yesterday and I could see the potential and the possibilities of development for Lincolnshire."
