A protest has been taking place in Grimsby against plans to build 3 and half thousand new houses.
Developers say the western corridor project will create a happy and 'vibrant new community',
However the Save the Freshney Valley group believe it will damage the environment, and won't provide affordable housing.
It's not a hundred houses - it's a whole new town
They demonstrated at Grimsby Town hall ahead of a council meeting last night.
We spoke to Lyndsey Downes who's an independent councillor as well as one of the protestors.
She told us: "I think people realise what we have there is something really special."
"If you build 3 and half thousand houses, that's not a hundred houses or two hundred it's a whole new town."
"I think people feel very strongly about it for that reason and they want to protect our natural asset and the River Freshney."
We will be reviewing the local plan
"What they want to see is brown field sites being regenerated, town centre housing as opposed to building on really nice green areas on the outskirts of town."
We got a reaction to the protest from leader of North East Lincolnshire council Phillip Jackson."
He said: " I'm hoping people out there will make their views known during the review of the local plan because we will be looking at what levels of housing we need across North East Lincolnshire as part of that review."
