Major plans have been put forward to transform the former Pleasure island theme park site in Cleethorpes into a multi million pound leisure hotel and retail park.
The proposals would see the 54 acre site on Kings Roads hosting 2 hundred holiday lodges. a major hotel, a Lidl, a Home Bargains and a Costa Coffee.
North East Lincolnshire Council's been given a presentation of the plans with a planning application due very soon.
The site was once a zoo and was shut down as a theme park in 2016.
Owners of the 54-acre site on Kings Road have already said publicly they hope to create 212 luxury holiday lodges as well as space for a Lidl supermarket store, a Home Bargains store and a Costa Coffee café.
Pleasure Island theme park opened in 1993 but was shut down in 2016 as visitor numbers declined.
YPG Fab 2 and Seaside Getaways Ltd want to build 212 lodges with around 50 on prime locations, overlooking the estuary, developer Adrian Smith has previously told Grimsby Live.
The developer have been negotiated with representatives from Lidl, Home Bargains and Costa and hotel operators.
A centrepiece of the development is a large hotel and conference centre with a 5,000 capacity.
“We want it to be the replacement for the town’s Winter Gardens,” said Adrian Smith to Grimsby Live in May. “We hope work can start in the spring of 2023.”
There would also be two lakes for water sports activities and buyers of the lodges it is understood will own the plot on which they are positioned. While councillors and officers got a sneak peek of what the plans will now precisely compose of, the public will not have to wait long to see for themselves the details.
The formal planning application is expected to be filed by mid-November.
