ELECTIONS: Progress for Labour but Conservatives win Lincs PCC vote
The Tories lose overall control of North East Lincolnshire council
A difficult night for the Conservatives appears in elections across the country appears to have been partly reflected locally, although the party did win the Lincolnshire police and crime commissioner vote.
The Conservatives have lost full control of North east Lincolnshire council with Labour making gains with less than a 3rd of seats up for election.
That makes it a hung council.
The Tories remain the biggest party.
That may mean they try and seek a deal with some opposition councillors to stay in control.
However exactly what will happen is unclear at this stage.
Some Labour success in Lincoln and North East Lincolnshire
North East Lincolnshire council result:
Labour gained 6 of the 12 seats being contested yesterday.
That leaves the state of the parties:
Conservative – 19
Labour – 15
Liberal Democrat – 3
Independents for North East Lincolnshire – 5
Meanwhile Labour have strengthened their grip on the City of Lincoln Council.
The Conservatives lost 4 seats they were looking to retain.
Again only a third of seats were being contested.

Labour – 23
Liberal Democrat – 5
Conservative – 5
Conservatives win the Lincs PCC election
However Conservative Marc Jones has been elected Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner again, although with a much reduced majority.
He polled just under 40 thousand votes less than 8 thousand ahead of Labour rival Mike Horder compared with last time when Mr Jones polled well over a hundred thousand.
Marc Jones spoke to the media briefly after his victory.
He told us: "I will work tirelessly to deliver what I've set out in my manifesto."
"I'm always very very clear about what I want to deliver and I will be delivering it."
"Nothing I've said is an empty promise - it will be delivered and that's what I always stand on."

"It feels obviously very good that people have put their trust and confidence in me for a third time - right now it also feels tiring."
