Rishi Sunak has reaffirmed his support for proposals to house asylum seekers at the former RAF Scampton site

It comes after he was questioned on the matter.

He added that these sites are needed as alternatives 'to the pressure that hotels and local communities are under'

However the plans have provided controversial with many local people vowing to fight them.

We spoke to Paul Carter who lives in the former married quarters and has concerns about the plans.

The meeting didn't reassure me

It follows a virtual meeting about the plans on Wednesday with the Home Office.

He told us: "It seemed they were reading off a script again same as they did at the last one."

"They were basically trying to tell us how well they were going to look after these guys."

"The question and answer session seemed to me to be a bit contrived - oddly the questions people were asking - they didn't seem to answer any of them that I could see."

"They were only answering questions that were emailed in."

"It didn't reassure me and didn't seem to reassurance anyone else - they don't seem to care."
