Police are questioning a 31 year old man in connection with an assault in Scunthorpe.

A 43 year old man was taken to hospital last night with a serious head injury after an incident on Frodingham Road.

Humberside Police say he is currently receiving treatment for injuries thought to be 'potentially life-threatening'.

Emergency services were called at around 10.40pm to reports that a man had been assaulted.

A 31-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent. He was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

Detective Inspector Scott Miller said: “I understand that an incident like this is likely to cause concern amongst the community, but I would like to reassure people that we do believe this to be an isolated incident between people known to each other.

“Those within the area can expect to see an increased number of officers and I would ask anyone with concerns to please come speak to them.

“I would urge anyone who has information, or has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 568 of 23 May.”
