Police force covering Newark sees a rise in modern slavery and human trafficking.

The police force, which covers Newark, has bolstered its ability to safeguard some of the most vulnerable people in society from being exploited by crime lords.

Nottinghamshire police has added 6 new officers to its county lines and modern slavery proactive teams - and seven dedicated detectives to help increase modern slavery prosecutions.

Last year saw 171 referrals of modern slavery and human trafficking that's a 23 percent rise.
