People across Lincolnshire and Newark are continuing to react to the bombshell comments made by Dominic Cummings.

The Prime Minister's former chief aide told MPs yesterday that "tens of thousands of people died who didn't need to" and that Boris Johnson is "unfit for the job".

Ex-Grantham Conservative MP Nick Boles Tweeted that Cummings "always knew" Boris shouldn't be PM.

Former Lincoln Labour MP Karen Lee's demanding an independent enquiry.

Ex-Scunthorpe Labour MP Nic Dakin also took to social media.

Lisa Harding's from Coningsby, she lost both her parents to Covid-19 within the space of a week just days before they were due the vaccine.

"It’s appalling to be honest with you.

"When you consider that, all of us for the last 15 months have tried to follow the Government guidelines, but then to find that there were some quite drastic failures which resulted in these vastly unnecessary deaths, it just makes me incredibly angry.

"My Mum and Dad did everything they were told to do, they shielded, they stayed at home and like everybody else that’s been touched by this in the way I have, I just don’t think they needed to pay that ultimate price.

"I think the Government should have looked after them a lot better, the same as the others that died."

Downing Street insists it's always prioritised saving lives and Boris Johnson says he's worked flat out to minimise deaths.
