Over £2.5m to be spent on Lincolnshire nursing and midwifery workforce
Hospital bosses hope it'll keep wards safely staffed
Over £2.5m is going to be spent boosting the nursing and midwifery workforce across Lincolnshire.
The trust in charge says it will allow them to hire 82 more members of staff over the next year.
Director of Nursing for ULHT, Dr Karen Dunderdale, said they carried out an establishment review to "be assured that the nursing and midwifery staffing levels across our wards continue to be appropriate and sufficient, in light of the recent pandemic."
“This is about ensuring that our nursing and midwifery establishments and shift arrangements deliver the best possible quality of care to our patients, whilst making sure we use our resources efficiently.
“We know that having permanent staffing in place, rather than using lots of agency staff, is best for patients and for the Trust.
"It just makes sense.
“I’m delighted that we have been able to secure the investment to both recruit these new staff members, and also to support them in an ongoing way once they start with us to ensure they stay.”
It comes as a recruitment event takes place at the University of Lincoln later.
It'll see over 750 people get a chance to see and hear about a career with the NHS.
Jobs include nursing, ambulance and paramedic, dementia care, mental health, infection control, radiotherapy, clinical engineering, estates and facilities.
Claire Flavell, Strategic Lead for the Lincolnshire Talent Academy within United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust said they're delighted to be hosting this event in person again.
"With over 350 different careers across the NHS and care sector, there are many different job roles which help keep our healthcare system running.
"We want to inspire the next generation to take on careers in healthcare.”
