North Lincolnshire man who hurled racist abuse at Police during rioting in Rotherham has been jailed
The 38-year-old made the journey with his partner and son when he found out about the ongoing protest
A man from North Lincolnshire who drove more than 50 miles to hurl racist abuse at Police during rioting in Rotherham has been jailed.
He also took his partner and 15-year-old son on the journey.
The court heard Stuart Bolton, of Manchester Square, New Holland had driven from his home when found out about the ongoing protest.
The 38-year-old was filmed angrily shouting at a line of Police officers who were protecting the Holiday Inn Express which was housing more that 200 asylum seekers
The footage, played in Sheffield Crown Court, showed Bolton screaming abuse and goading officers in riot gear as his partner attempted to calm him down.
The Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Jeremy Richardson KC said "You were encouraging the remainder of the crowd around and about you to engage in violence" before sentencing him to two years and eight months in prison.
The Judge also confiscated the car Bolton used to drive to Rotherham after hearing he was disqualified from driving had no insurance, and banned him from driving for three years.
