North East Lincolnshire care home boss says care measures are a step in the right direction
However there are concerns they may not go far enough
MPs are going to vote on proposals to reform social care later.
They'll get their say on the plan to increase national insurance by 1. 25 per cent to pay for it and to help the NHS deal with a backlog.
Boris Johnson set out the details yesterday.
However there's been some criticism because the scheme breaks a manifesto commitment whilst opposition parties claim the increase won't be fairly spread.
We spoke to Paul De Savery who runs the Old Vicarage care home at Stallingborough near Grimsby.
He says "the idea that the next stage will solve the problem, I don't think that will be the case".
"I think it will start to fix the problem because it's actually bringing it more to people's attention".
"The NHS is a fantastic cause but so is social care".
"Social care gets a very raw deal compared to the NHS and it gets a very raw deal compared to the NHS".
"I think there's something quite good about the idea we should all be able have these services so I guess in principle we should all pay for them".
