Newark's Robert Jenrick has become the first MP to take in a Ukrainian family.
The former Housing Secretary is taking part in the special home office scheme.
He's taken in a woman from the Ukraine and her 3 children.
Mr Jenrick told the Times newspaper "it's been very rewarding to see them safe at last after a very traumatic experience."
Meanwhile he's also trying to secure the release of a man from Newark who's been captured by the Russians after going to fight in Ukraine.
Aiden Aslin's family say he's applying for Ukrainian citizenship and joined their military four years ago.
Russian TV has broadcast footage, appearing to show him cut and bruised following his surrender in Mariupol.
His mum Angela Wood said:
"He's not a mercenary, he's not a volunteer, he did not go out there in the last month thinking - I'm going to fight, I'm going to get glory".
"He's been out there for four years".
"He's a legit Ukrainian Marine".
Mr Aslin sent this message home to her, just before he and other soldiers surrendered.
"We lasted about a month, ran out of ammunition".
"The only thing we had left was water".
