Specialist new equipment will be brought in there
RAF Coningsby is trialling new technology to make their jet fighters more efficient,
It comes as the station has been implementing new digital equipment, like Electronic ground power units, which have been used to supply the stations' Typhoon Fleet with essential power
Defence contractor BAE systems is supplying the unit with the equipment.
We went down to the RAF base to speak to some of those involved.
Innovation Lead for the Royal Air Force, Wing Commander Russ Glayson says it's important to keep developing technologies:
"The air force is a service that has always evolved."
"From the very start we've been an innovative service, it we hadn't innovated we'd still be flying biplanes."
"So we've got to keep up with technology and modern changes to enable to keep a leading edge."
Chris Payne is the Head of Future Capability for Maintenance.
He told us: "It seems to be the right thing to do, to be able to bring those technology solutions."
"There's no better place to do that than where that technology could be used."
"It's not just about the future of how we support the aeroplanes but also how we use technology as one of the things that can help bring people to want to have future careers in engineering because some of the technology young people are very familiar with from a gaming and smart phone perspective.
