A new ten year strategy for Lincolnshire's care sector outlines better integration between the NHS and care workers.

The proposals will also look to ease the pressure on staff.

Another key aim is to address issues like "bed blocking" so the transition of older people being discharged from hospital into care homes is made faster and smoother.

We spoke to Melanie Weatherley, Chair of the Lincolnshire care association about the strategy.

She told us: "A lot of us are in a state where there's a high level of anxiety, so care homes are opening up to visitors but that scares them and it scares some of the visitors as well."

"That legacy is something we need to address."

"Without a robust thriving social care sector the NHS can't get its backlog sorted, it can't get back to what it should be doing."

"An acute hospital is not the right place for a frail older person to be recovering, it's not what they're designed for and it's not conducive to really living."

"If you're frail and elderly we can support you to stay as independent as you can, as part of your community, for as long as possible but also give you that tender loving care that most of us need towards the end of life."
