Nearly 6 million pounds will be invested in a facility that offers short break care in Scunthorpe.

It's to help support families and allow young people with various disabilities to access opportunities.

Staff will be able to care for children with a range of complex needs including learning and physical disabilities.

The new facility will be built on Alvingham Road and will be developed with young people and their families.

The centre is being developed by the council, supported with funding from the Government’s Department for Education (DfE).

The new facility, which will be built on Alvingham Road, will be developed with young people, their families, and steering groups.

Together with the construction of the new £11m Trent View College, announced earlier this week, the new build continues the council’s prioritisation of North Lincolnshire’s vulnerable families, helping them to lead better, fulfilling lives.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “With Government support, we are investing millions of pounds of local tax payers money people supporting our most vulnerable children."

“We know how vital it is to local families that their children have access to this brilliant support here in North Lincolnshire rather than going out of the area. It ensures they can stay safe and connected in their own community."

“Taken together, the new short-break respite care offer and Trent View College will bring huge benefits to hundreds of local young people, supporting them to grow, develop and achieve.”
