Murder investigation launched near Horncastle

It follows the death of a woman in West Ashby

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman near Horncastle.

Police were called to West Ashby around lunchtime today (3rd August). They received reports of an altercation just after 12.30pm.

Officers went to a property in Kirk Close where a woman in her 70's was found with what's believed to be knife wounds.

She was pronounced dead at the scene - her next of kin have been made aware.

A man in his 50's has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody.

Police will remain in the area while they continue their investigations.
