Murder investigation underway in Gainsborough

A woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries this morning but sadly died

Lincolnshire Police has launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Gainsborough in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called to Wheeldon Street at 4.20am on Sunday 28th July where they found a 44 year-old woman with serious injuries.

She was rushed to hospital where she sadly died a short time later.

Her next of kin have been informed.

A scene guard is in place on Wheeldon Street and will remain for some time.

The force is appealing for witnesses to come forward to help with their investigation so that they can piece together what happened.
