Scunthorpe MP secures meeting on plans to close town's driving theory centre
Holly Mumby Croft will speak with the Transport Minister
Scunthorpe's MP will tell the Transport minister plans to close the town's driving theory test centre are "nonsense" and need to be scrapped.
Holly Mumby Croft has secured the meeting following a debate in Parliament.
The DVSA says it's to create an "even distribution" across the country.
However that's disputed by the MP.
She says her research suggests it will take some locals over 4 hours to reach their nearest alternative centre.
In her speech in Parliament, the Scunthorpe MP lambasted the DVSA's decision as "absolute nonsense".
Following the debate she told us " "I am pleased to secure the opportunity to voice the frustrations faced by residents on this important issue, they are absolutely right and I support them. "
"I hope that the Ministers from the Department for Transport will reflect on the points I have made this evening, and I fully intend to follow up on them during my further meeting with the Minister.”
"Everyone in Scunthorpe will know at least one person that will be affected by the DVSA's decision."
"For now, there is cold comfort in knowing that this decision will be under review. I will certainly be making a submission once the review is open, and will continue to work with colleagues on this matter."
""There simply isn't any justification to take away our theory test centre and residents in the Scunthorpe constituency can rest assured that I will continue to challenge the decision made by the DVSA."
