A penalty notice has been issued to an 18-year-old man last night in Louth.

Just before 10pm, police received reports of a group of people setting off fireworks at each other as well as aiming it as shops, houses and moving cars on Mercer Row.

The 18-year-old was given the notice due to inappropriate use of fireworks.

Lincolnshire Police Inspector Jacky Evans said: “Used irresponsibly, fireworks can cause a lot of damage to property, and do significant harm to people and animals.

“We know people want to celebrate events like Halloween and eventually Bonfire Night, but we would urge people to celebrate responsibly and safely – especially if you’re using fireworks. We will be stepping up our patrols in Louth in the lead up to Bonfire Night and we will take action against those who act irresponsibly.”
