A man has been charged with murder following the death of 67-year-old Nigel Booth in Stamford earlier this week.

Following his arrest and an extensive investigation, Andrew Greengrass, aged 36, of Foundry Road, Stamford, has been charged with the murder of Mr Booth, which is reported to have taken place on Tuesday 21 October.

Greengrass has been refused bail and is due to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 24 October)

Detective Inspector Mel Rooke, the Senior Investigating Officer, said:

“I am very grateful to the people who have come forward and have helped with our inquiries. I appreciate it is an unsettling time for those involved or who live within the local community.

I hope today's charge is welcomed and ask people not to speculate about what has happened due to the ongoing criminal proceedings at court.

Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Nigel.”

Lincolnshire Police say they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr Booth’s death and remain keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of Foundry Road between midnight and 2am on Tuesday 21 October.

Emergency services were called to a property on Foundry Road shortly before 1.10am on Tuesday, following a report that a man had been injured. Despite receiving emergency medical treatment at the scene, Mr Booth sadly died from his injuries.
