A Stallingborough lorry driving training centre says enquiries have gone 'through the roof' since the driver shortage.

JMT training is based at Stallingborough.

We spoke to director Jaimie Wright about the increase.

He told us they were seeing about 50 enquiries a week rather than around 15 previously.

He says the long term shortage of drivers is not surprising due to low wages in the past and the conditions they've had to work in.

He hopes this will now improve.

Jaimie says "all a driver really wants is appreciation, yes we are big vehicles, yes we are slower but without us there isn't anything".

"During the pandemic drivers were the key to keeping the country moving".

He says it's not surprising given the need for drivers and says many people who had been furloughed or lost their jobs in the pandemic are now starting to see it as a chance for a good new career path.
