Lincolnshire women who've experienced violence says measures are needed to address issues
Lincolnshire police's women's group which advises them on measures says they have made some progress
Today we're hearing from women across Lincolnshire who've experienced violence and abuse.
They've told us measures need to be put in place to address issues and help those affected
We've been speaking exclusively to Lincolnshire police's Violence against Women and Girls advisory group.
Earlier this week a new report described the scale of the issue - as 'a national emergency'
These women are using their experiences to find solutions and offer advice to try and make a difference for other women who may go through the system.
We're looking at educating future generations
One member we spoke to told us: "It's massively empowering and it's massively healing"
"I think we're a long way from stopping abusive behaviour but we are making massive strides towards supporting people to exit those relationships earlier."
"To also recognise signs of abuse so they can seek help."
"To not be afraid to speak out and get support."
"We're looking at educating future generations - so programmes going into schools to support young men and women in their own healthy relationships."
"To prevent them from falling victim to perpetrators and also to stop those behaviours before they become entrenched and embedded."
When women are isolated and trapped those challenges can be even greater
"The more isolated they are from social infrastructure the easier it is to isolate them."
"So there is a big problem in Lincolnshire where there are poor bus routes - poor communications maybe lousy internet."
"When women are isolated and trapped within that setting those challenges can be even greater."
"I think it's really important (about making a difference ) because one of the big issues women report is the people who can hear them can't do anything and the people who can do something can't hear them."
"So getting everybody round the table makes so much difference."
