We're being urged to recycle as much of our Christmas waste as possible over the festive period. Knowing what can go in which bin can be confusing but Lincolnshire County Council have been telling us how we know what can go where.

We're being urged to recycle as much of our Christmas waste as possible over the festive period.

Most of us create more waste at Christmas than at any other time of year, but knowing what can go in which bin can be confusing.

Anything with glitter must go straight in the general waste bin, but it's possible items like advent calendars without foil and Christmas cards can be recycled.

Rachel Stamp is the Lincolnshire Waste Partnerships and Projects Manager at Lincolnshire County Council:

"A top tip for recycling is whatever you recycle needs to be clean, dry and loose - check out the 'right thing right bin' that's on the county council website.

"One of the other big thing is soft plastic - plastic bags or polythene that things are wrapped up in. Unfortunately we can't recycle those from the home bins."
