Lincolnshire police says dash cam scheme can help cut dangerous driving
Local people are being encouraged to send videos
Lincolnshire Police say a scheme encouraging people to send in dash cam footage shows dangerous drivers that they can be caught anywhere.
Operation Snap gets locals to send videos of suspected traffic offences which put others at risk.
The force says they're determined to address reckless driving.
We spoke to Chief Inspector Pat Coates from Lincolnshire police about the scheme.
He said: "Since the launch of Operation Snap we've had over 11 hundred submissions".
"We average around 90 submissions a month but that's increasing as we publicise Operation Snap and the way you can submit your footage."
"The ultimate aim is we want to modify people's behaviour so the roads of Lincolnshire are safer."
"We only have a finite amount of resources and it enables us to have more eyes and ears out there."
"Just because you don't see a police office it doesn't mean your manner of driving hasn't been captured and you won't be prosecuted."
"Lincolnshire's roads have some of the highest proportion of killed and seriously in the country, so we're obviously keen to bring that down and make our roads safer."
"Operation Snap we hope is one of the tools that will modify people's driving behaviour."
