Lincolnshire police federation says the Government needs to show officers across the country that they're valued and respected.

It comes as the Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has said respect for the police must be restored after they faced abuse during recent riots.

Helen Stamp is the county's federation branch Chair and feels its the government that needs to do more.

We spoke to her and she told us: "A recent pay and morale survey that was undertaken - 95 per cent of police officers felt that their poor morale was as a result of the way they were treated by the Government."

"86 per cent said it was the way they were treated by the public - that's a big proportion of the workforce."

They're tired - they're not getting any rest

"Once again we've been awarded the lowest pay rise of all the public sector workers - I don't think her comments echo out to my officers that they are respected by the public and the Government."

"There's things that the new Government could do that would actually make officers feel they are valued - and are valued by the Government."

"They're tired - they're not getting any rest."

"It's not just the officers that you see wearing the public order equipment."

"Those officers will often come from teams that will then need to be backfilled."

"Also there's a huge team of staff behind all of this who need to arrange all the duties."
