A new report is criticising how Lincolnshire's Police and Crime Commissioner handled the process of recruiting a new Chief Constable.

Mark Jones was previously cleared of unlawful behaviour regarding the recruitment process.

"Did not always adhere to the guiding principles of fairness, openness and merit"

This latest report by a police watchdog investigates his actions after concerns were raised.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct concluded Mr Jones "did not always adhere to the guiding principles of fairness, openness and merit at all times during the process, and moreover, at times, his decisions were directly in conflict with these principles."

It suggests he could have been clearer at times but didn't feel his actions amounted to potential abuse of the public's trust.

Marc Jones says he's not surprised but is satisfied by the outcome.

He added he was always confident he acted "in the best interests of the people of Lincolnshire".
