The Paralympics gets underway in Tokyo this afternoon.

The opening ceremony will be taking place with swimmer Ellie Simmonds and archer John Stubbs carrying the Great Britain flag.

The competition will begin tomorrow.

Several athletes from Lincolnshire will be taking part.

They include Sophie Wells from the Lincoln area.

She's competing in the dressage following huge success previously.

Sophie has bagged gold and silver medals in the London and Rio games.

However this time will be a little different.

Her usual horse C Fatal Attraction was injured a few months ago.

That means Sophie will be riding the relatively inexperienced horse Don Cara.

She told us "that pressure would have been a lot more" if she'd been riding C Fatal Attraction.

However she says "they'll still be the nerves and definitely excitement".

Meanwhile another former gold medallist Hollie Arnold is hoping for more success.

Hollie grew up in Holton le Clay near Grimsby and competes in the javellin.

She told us the last year has been difficult because the 2020 games were postponed.

"I took a couple of months off completely."

"I just needed a mental break from athletics."

"I think it's because I lost my structure, I lost what I do in life."

"I felt my spark had gone - I took a step back and it was the best thing I ever did".

Hollie also used her time out to appear in "I'm a Celebrity".

Now she's hoping to be back to her best.

Victoria Rumary is an archer from Scunthorpe.

She was a former non-disabled archer before a surgery for epilepsy resulted in her becoming a wheelchair user.

She's really excited because it's her first paralympics.

Victoria told us whilst it was difficult at first to have a disability "once you're shown what you can do, you realise you can do just as well or even better than some of your able bodied counterparts".

We wish Sophie, Hollie and Victoria all the best for the games.

And of course we'll keep you updated about their progress.
