Lincolnshire mum on organ donation list urges people to speak to loved ones
She's got just 6 months to find a new heart and liver
A Lincolnshire mum, who has just 6 months to find a new heart and liver, is urging people to speak about organ donations.
Nationally, three people die every day on the waiting list.
As part of Organ Donation Week, the counties health bosses are reminding people that the law on organ donation has changed to an 'opt out' system.
It means that if you are not in an excluded group and have not confirmed whether you want to be an organ donor it will be considered that you agree to donate your organs when you die.
Lesley Edwards from Louth is pleading with people to have the important discussion with family and friends.
"It’s out of my hands, I just can’t do anything to influence it now.
"I’ve done everything I can to get myself onto the list like lose weight and get my mental health as good as I possibly can, so now it is literally down to if the organs do come along.
"I try not to think about it too much, which is obviously really, really hard.
"I’ve got a son who’s 13, so for him, I’m just praying that the organs do come along sooner rather than later."
