Lincolnshire Food Banks fear surge in demand as children break for summer

Organisers are expecting an extra 70 families a week

As children across Lincolnshire break up for the summer holidays it's feared foodbanks will see demand increase tenfold.

We're being told people are struggling now more than ever due to the pandemic.

Organisers say they're expecting an extra 70 families a week.

"Pride is the biggest barrier"

"We have had people crying over the phone when we've told them we can help"

Captain Wendy Brown is from the Salvation Army.

She runs the Gainsborough Food Bank.

"Pride is the biggest barrier.

"We don't judge people, we don't pry, we're here to help.

"We've had people crying on the doorstep saying I don't know how to thank you."
