So not only was it the first time for weeks it has opened but it was his first time in charge.
The beer garden there did brisk trade during their first day back.
He admitted being nervous and said it was something of a gamble but remained optimistic he could "make a go of it".
Meanwhile Bransby Horses was back open to visitors.
The charity is home to hundreds of horses, donkeys and mules.
It's been closed since the start of the third lockdown.
They estimate around 350 thousand pounds of income was lost during the first lockdown alone.
Visitors are also vital to the well being of the animals with staff spending more time with them to make up with the lack of contact with the public.
