So we now know when the next general election will be.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak yesterday confirmed the date to be July the 4th.

However we found there are still a lot of undecided voters out there.

Voters in Grimsby have been giving their thoughts.

It's the first time ever since being a voter that I can't choose

"Very undecided - do you change what there is already or is going to get worse - do you keep with what you know already."

"They're all as bad as each other - you're not getting truth from either side."

"I'm equally as unconvinced on both - I honestly haven't got one (a voting preference) - it's the first time ever since being a voter that I can't choose."

We spoke to University of Lincoln's Politics Lecturer Dr Andrew Defty about the election

He told us: "Some Conservatives will be unhappy - they probably think he should wait in the hope that the polls will improve."

Given that we didn't have a general election in May it's a bit surprising

"Another challenge facing actually all the parties is ensuring they have candidates selected to stand in all of those seats."

"Parliament will probably sit for about another week and then will be dissolved."

"It'll be quite a frantic week in legislative terms with a lot of Parliamentary business to complete - we've got a busy period leading up to the 4th of July."

"We've had some unexpected general elections in recent years - in 2017 and also to some extent in 2019 but this one is not really a shock."

"We've know for some time a general election could be called."

"The Prime MInister did say earlier that the general election would be held in the second half of the year."

"It's not entirely clear why he's gone now."

"Given that we didn't have a general election in May it's a bit surprising he didn't leave it until the autumn."
