A Lincoln man who seriously injured another man with a chainsaw has been jailed for two and half years.

It happened in March 2023.

Officers were on routine patrol in the city on 13th March 2023 when they found a man with severe cuts to different parts of his body in Monks Road - he was taken to hospital for treatment.

30-year-old Andrew Roberts of Lytton Street, Lincoln admitted wounding with intent and a possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place and was sentenced today at Lincoln Crown Court (28th March).

A 35-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. The woman was later released with no further action.

DC Liam Henderson from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Lincoln was the lead investigator in the case. He said:

“This was a horrific incident whereby the victim received horrendous injuries, for which he will bear scars for the rest of his life.

“The Response Officers who found the victim during proactive patrols are a credit to the force, and their actions meant the victim quickly got the medical help he needed while allowing investigations to progress efficiently.

“CID conducted an extremely thorough investigation, including dealing with complex forensics and conducting CCTV enquiries. Their hard work resulted in Roberts changing his plea to guilty at a later date because of the overwhelming evidence we gathered against him.

“I hope today’s result brings the victim some form of closure and I am pleased that we were able to bring the offender to justice”.
